Concrete Foreman
Leavitt & Starck Excavating is seeking an experienced Concrete Foreman to oversee concrete operations on road construction, site work, and utility projects throughout the Mid-Michigan area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading crews, coordinating daily activities, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct concrete crews on site pouring, finishing, formwork, rebar placement, etc.
- Read and interpret plans to ensure accurate layout and execution
- Coordinate daily activities, materials, and subcontractors for on-time, high-quality completion
- Enforce safety standards and maintain a clean, productive job site
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Concrete Foreman or lead in concrete construction (3-5 years preferred)
- Strong ability to read and understand construction plans
- Valid driver’s license (required for consideration)
- Reliable transportation and ability to work in the Mid-Michigan area

Heavy Equipment Operator
Leavitt & Starck Excavating, Inc. is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to work on road construction, site work, and utility projects throughout the Mid-Michigan area. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a variety of heavy equipment and a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and quality workmanship on job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, and material handling for road, site, and utility projects
- Follow project plans and directions from supervisors to ensure accurate work
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders)
- Experience working on road construction, site work, or utility projects preferred
- Valid driver’s license required for consideration
- Reliable transportation and ability to work in the Mid-Michigan / Lansing area

Laborer & Pipe Layer
Leavitt & Starck Excavating, Inc. is seeking experienced Laborers and Pipe Layers to work on road construction, site work, and utility projects throughout the Mid-Michigan area. The ideal candidate will have experience working on underground utility installations and a strong work ethic with the ability to perform physical job site tasks safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with installation of underground utilities including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main
- Work in trenches and around heavy equipment during pipe installation
- Assist with grading, backfilling, and site preparation
- Follow project plans and directions from supervisors to ensure accurate installation
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site
Requirements:
- Experience in underground utility construction preferred
- Experience with sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main installation strongly preferred
- Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor job site conditions
- Valid driver’s license required for consideration
- Reliable transportation and ability to work in the Mid-Michigan / Lansing area

Gravel Train Driver
Leavitt & Starck Excavating, Inc. is seeking a qualified Gravel Train Driver to support road construction, site work, and utility projects throughout the Mid-Michigan area. The ideal candidate will have experience operating gravel train equipment and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and efficient material transport between job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a gravel train to transport aggregate and materials to and from job sites
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies
- Coordinate with dispatch and job site supervisors to ensure timely deliveries
- Maintain a clean and professional vehicle and work environment
Requirements:
- Class A CDL with doubles endorsement required
- Minimum of 1 year experience driving gravel trains
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Reliable and safety-focused with strong work ethic
